Launch of new Sport and Dance Leadership qualifications in Scotland

Our Scottish qualifications have recently been reviewed and updated. You can now start delivering these qualifications with the following guidance in mind:

  • If your course is due to finish on or before 31 December 2017 you must deliver and assess using the old specifications, i.e. the versions that have been available for the last three years.
  • If your course is due to finish on or after 1 January 2018 you must deliver and assess using the new specifications.

Details on the new qualifications can be found here and you can find the supporting course material within the Tutor Resources.

Reminder: Quality Assurance engagement with your Centre now occurs every year

Centre are reminded that Quality Assurance now takes place on an annual basis for each academic year. This is conducted by either a visit to the Centre from a Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) or a 'remote' review, where course evidence is asked to be sent in to the QAO. For any questions on this please contact the Senior Quality Assurance Officer in your region.

The tasks required for Internal Verification for courses starting in 2017/18

Note: for new specification qualifications only. The internal verification process for the pre-Sept 2017 SCQF qualifications does not change.

The Task(s) or Unit selected for sampling by the Internal Verifier are specified by Sports Leaders UK and this now applies to all qualifications. These Tasks or Units are clearly identified at the top of the each Internal Verification Record so please check that select these correctly for the given start date of the course. For example, for Centres delivering the Level 4 Qualification in Sports Leadership (SL4) with a start date between Aug 2017 and July 2018, the Tasks to be Internally Verified are 1.3 and 1.4 as per the example below.

Online Internal Verifier Training launched

Sports Leaders UK have recently launched online training to support the role of the Internal Verifier within your Centre.

The training is optional during the 2017-18 academic year; however will become mandatory for any registered Sports Leaders UK Internal Verifier from the 1st August 2018. We would recommend that your Internal Verifier(s) undertakes the training this year as your centre may incur a charge to complete it from 1st August 2018.

Auto-enrollment onto the training can be accessed by clicking here. This training should only take around one hour to complete and on successful completion your Internal Verifier will receive an E-Certificate.

Please note there are two types of Internal Verifier training - one specifically for Scottish Centres and one for all other Centres, therefore please ensure you complete the one relevant to you location.
