Quality Assurance - remote review

If your Centre has been contacted for a remote Quality Assurance review, you can submit your course evidence any time after Internal Verification has taken place on the relevant course/s - you do not need to wait until the end of the course to send fully completed evidence. Please note there could be delay in issuing certificates if evidence is not submitted until the end of the summer term.

If you are submitting hard copy evidence (rather than electronic), please only send copies and not original documentation. Centres will be charged a postage fee for returning original evidence.

UCAS points for HSL3 - how to guarantee certificates reach you in time

We are required to notify UCAS of learners that have successfully completed the Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership (HSL3) by 1st August 2018. In order to ensure your learners are recognised with the 16 UCAS points eligible from gaining the HSL3 qualification your Centre will need to have had a satisfactory Quality Assurance (QA) review this academic year. If you have yet to have your QA review take place or have not been contacted about this please get in touch with me as your Senior Quality Assurance Officer as soon as possible to arrange this.

Minimum spend on awards and qualifications

We want to take the opportunity to remind Qualification Centres that they are required to spend a minimum of £350 on learner registrations for qualifications, awards, packages or course resources (e.g. printed LERs) between 1st August 2017 to the 31st July 2018.

If your centre does not meet the £350 minimum spend, we will invoice you in August 2018 for the difference between your Centre’s actual spend and the minimum spend of £350.

If you need support or guidance on how your Centre can meet the minimum spend policy, please do get in contact with us via contact@sportsleaders.org.

Withdrawal of the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Volunteering (CSV2) from regulation

From 31st August 2018 we will no longer be offering the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Volunteering (Quan code – 600/3497/X).

What can your Centre offer instead?

The Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership gives learners the opportunity to develop many of the same key skills and behaviours as CSV2 but in an easier to deliver and assess format. Many of these skills can be applied to the volunteering opportunities that your learners will encounter.

Why have we decided to withdraw this qualification from regulation?

Following an internal review of the validity of all of our qualifications we found that CSV2 no longer has:

  • Evidence of demand from Centres – the majority of Centres that have delivered CSV2 in previous years have not returned to deliver it again
  • A delivery model that is relevant – volunteers want a shorter course that is recognised by organisations that deploy volunteers for their events.
