Minimum spend requirement on qualifications

Centres that agreed to our PLC Terms and Conditions between 1st August 2017 and 31st July 2018 are required to have spent a minimum of £700 on delegate registrations for qualifications before 31st July 2019.

If your Centre has not met the minimum spend of £700, you will receive an invoice in August 2019 for difference between your Centre's actual spend and the minimum spend of £700.

Internal Verifier e-training

For all courses that started on or after 1st August 2018 - the named Internal Verifier must have completed the Internal Verifier e-training before carrying out their role. Delegate certificates will not be issued on course(s) where the named trained Internal Verifier has not completed the e-training.

PLC staff requirements reminder

To deliver the qualifications, your PLC needs meet the following minimum requirements:

  • At least one Trained Tutor that:

    • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Has experience of being a primary school PE subject leader
    • Has experience of leading on a professional learning/CPD programme
    • Has attended either a PLC Induction Day or a PLC Online Refresher in the last 2 years

  • Tutor/Assessor(s) are qualified, suitably experienced and:

    • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Have experience of being a primary school PE subject leader
    • Have experience of leading on a professional learning/CPD programme
  • The named Internal Verifier(s) (IV) has Qualified Teacher Status.

  • All Independent Assessors meet the following requirements:

    • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Are part of the primary school senior management team or equivalent to independently assess delegates on the Level 5/6 courses.

Quality Assurance Review Checklist

The PLC Quality Assurance Review Checklist (SLF405 Issue 4 06/19) has been updated and published to the Tutor Resources. Changes made:

  • Completed Delegates Assessment Guides & Independent Assessor Forms now only need retaining for the delegates selected for the sample by the Internal Verifier
  • Evidence is required to confirm Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the Teacher Reference Number or QTS certificate for:

    • Tutor/Assessor(s)
    • Delegates registered on the Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership.

Top 3 reminders for current qualifications

In October 2017 we released revised specifications for both qualifications. Here are our top three reminders of the major differences between the current qualifications (from Oct 2017) and the withdrawn qualifications (final start dates Nov 2017):

1. A swimming unit of work must be developed for Task 6 by all delegates. It does not need to be taught.

2. New Unit 1 – Delegates are now required to create and implement a personal development plan to set and review a plan improve own abilities as a primary school physical education specialist.

3. The qualification has an increased focus on how the delegate should aim to improve attitudes and behaviours towards PE for both the pupils and school colleagues.
