UCAS points for HSL3

We are required to notify UCAS of learners that have successfully completed the Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership (HSL3) by 31/07/2019. To ensure your learners receive the 16 UCAS points from gaining this qualification, your Centre will need to have had a satisfactory Quality Assurance (QA) review this academic year. For guidance and tips on how to ensure your QA review runs smoothly watch this short clip. Centre Course Managers – if you have not yet been contacted about this please get in touch with your Senior Quality Assurance Officer as soon as possible to arrange your Centre's QA review.

Changes to course applications

Over the coming months we will be implementing two changes to the way that courses are applied for and managed on LEAP:

  • Centres will not be able to amend course end dates directly. If a change to any course start or end dates is required, you will need to contact the Customer Service Team to make these changes for you.
  • Centres will be required to apply for each group/cohort being delivered to as a separate course rather than putting larger numbers on a single course code. Our Customer Service Team will be able to support you with this.

These changes are being made to ensure we have accurate information about courses being delivered and to provide the appropriate support to Centres to meet our Quality Assurance requirements. More details will follow once these changes have been put in place.

Sport and Dance qualifications: Amended specifications to be issued for 2019-20 courses

In 2018 we launched the Skills Framework that was developed with Youth Employment UK. To ensure that all Centres can link the outcomes of their learners to the Skills Framework, we have reviewed the following qualifications:

  • SLQ Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership (SL1) – Quan code: 601/8579/X
  • SLQ Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership (SL2) – Quan code: 601/8581/8
  • SLQ Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership (CSL2) – Quan code: 601/8584/3
  • SLQ Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership (HSL3) – Quan code: 601/8586/7
  • SLQ Level 1 Qualification in Dance Leadership (DL1) – Quan code: 603/1244/0
  • SLQ Level 2 Qualification in Dance Leadership (DL2) – Quan code: 603/1245/2

The qualifications will only have minor changes to them. We do not expect the way you currently deliver and assess your learners will change significantly. However, we will issue new Learner Evidence Records, amended Tutor Resources and Quality Assurance forms by July 2019.

Tutor Training changes from 1st April 2019

The way in which a Tutor/Assessor achieves ‘trained’ status to meet qualification delivery requirements has now changed, a new Tutor/Assessor must:

  • Undertake the Tutor/Assessor e-training.
  • Attend a Leadership Induction day.

There is no limit to how many people from your Centre can undertake the e-training.

Qualification delivery can start as soon as the Tutor/Assessor's (T/A) e-training has been completed.

Your Centre will be given access to T/A e-training once the Leadership Induction day has been booked by at least one member of staff.

The T/A e-training MUST be completed by the booked delegate before attending the Leadership Induction day. Please click here for details on Tutor Training costs from 1st of August 2019.

Access to e-training for both Centre Course Manager (CCM) and Internal Verifier (IV) can be accessed HERE.
